Ce que l’océan sépare, nos corps relient est une exploration artistique et poétique reliant la Gaspésie et la Picardie, deux territoires côtiers séparés par l’Atlantique mais unis par des fragilités communes : l’érosion, la mémoire et la transformation des paysages. Ce projet de Maude Arsenault, issu d’une recherche-création entre le Québec et la France, prolonge sa réflexion sur les liens entre le corps féminin et la géographie. En résidence nomade sur les côtes picardes à l’automne 2024, l’artiste y a mêlé photographie et performance pour inscrire sa présence dans un territoire étranger. Par une approche écoféministe, l’exposition met en dialogue corps et territoires, soulignant leurs effondrements, résistances et capacités de régénération. Entre deux continents, elle interroge la façon dont les paysages et les corps s’influencent mutuellement et deviennent les témoins d’un monde en transformation.

What the Ocean Divides, Our Bodies Connect is an artistic and poetic exploration linking Gaspésie and Picardy—two coastal territories separated by the Atlantic yet united by shared fragilities: erosion, memory, and landscape transformation. This project developed through research and creation between Quebec and France, extends a reflection on the relationship between the female body and geography. During a nomadic residency on the Picard coast in autumn 2024, the artist combined photography and performance to inscribe her presence within a foreign land. Through an ecofeminist approach, the exhibition creates a dialogue between bodies and territories, highlighting their collapses, resistances, and regenerative powers. Between two continents, it questions how landscapes and bodies mutually shape one another and become witnesses to a world in transformation.
